Who's In, Who's Out, and Who's Staying Put for the 2023 Formula 1 Season

As the 2022 Formula 1 season draws to a close with the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the driver line-up for the 2023 season has been finalized. With several driver changes and team switches announced in recent weeks, here's a comprehensive overview of the confirmed drivers and their respective teams for the upcoming season:

New Signings and Team Switches

One of the most significant moves for 2023 is Fernando Alonso's departure from Alpine to join Aston Martin, replacing the retired Sebastian Vettel. Another notable change sees Pierre Gasly leave AlphaTauri for Alpine, with Nyck de Vries taking his place at the Faenza-based team.

Another major move involves Oscar Piastri, who will finally make his Formula 1 debut with McLaren after a highly publicized contractual dispute with Alpine. Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg returns to the grid with Haas, replacing Mick Schumacher.

Drivers Staying Put

Several top drivers have opted to remain with their current teams for 2023. Reigning world champion Max Verstappen will continue to drive for Red Bull, while his teammate Sergio Perez has also signed a contract extension. Similarly, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will remain at Mercedes, and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will continue to race for Ferrari.

The Road Ahead

With the driver line-up now confirmed, the focus shifts to the upcoming Formula 1 season. The 2023 calendar will feature a record-breaking 24 races, with new venues in Las Vegas and Qatar joining the circuit. The season will kick off on March 5th with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
