It's not like the Denver Broncos sat on their hands while quarterback after quarterback was taken off the board during the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Broncos traded up to select Anthony Richardson with the 11th overall pick, and while the former Florida star has shown flashes of brilliance, he's also been inconsistent and turnover-prone.
With the Broncos sitting at 4-12 heading into the final week of the regular season, it's clear that they need to find a long-term solution at quarterback. Chad Reuter of NFL.com recently listed eight potential solutions for the Broncos, including one surprising option:
- C.J. Stroud, Ohio State
- Bryce Young, Alabama
- Anthony Richardson, Florida
- Will Levis, Kentucky
- Hendon Hooker, Tennessee
- Tanner McKee, Stanford
- Zach Wilson, New York Jets
- Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Wilson is the surprising option on Reuter's list, as he was widely criticized for his performance with the Jets. However, Wilson is still just 23 years old and has shown flashes of his potential. If the Broncos can trade for Wilson and get him into a better situation, he could be a long-term solution at quarterback.
Of course, the Broncos could also decide to stick with Richardson and hope that he develops into a franchise quarterback. However, if they want to compete for a Super Bowl in the near future, they may need to find a more proven option at quarterback.
