Boeing Brought In Almost 200 Pilots To Evaluate Design Changes For Upcoming 777X

Boeing 777X: Simple Flying

As Boeing continues development of the 777X, the manufacturer has reportedly brought in almost 200 pilots to evaluate recent design changes to the aircraft. The 777X program has faced numerous delays and undergone several design changes. Currently, the aircraft remains in the flight testing phase.

In 2021, Simple Flying visited Boeing facilities to gather further information about the 777X, which is a next-generation aircraft expected to enter service around 2025.

Boeing Evaluates Design Changes For Upcoming 777X

According to Simple Flying, Boeing invited almost 200 pilots to participate in a series of simulator sessions to assess the aircraft's new design features. This evaluation process follows Boeing's redesign of the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), which was implicated in two fatal crashes involving the 737 MAX. The Technical Advisory Board (TAB) was established to evaluate Boeing's redesign of the MCAS, with the aim of providing direct feedback to the FAA.

The 777X is a wide-body aircraft designed to replace the current 777, offering greater efficiency and range. The aircraft features new engines, a composite wing, and a more spacious cabin. However, the program has faced challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to address safety concerns. Nonetheless, Boeing remains committed to bringing the 777X to market and has expressed confidence in its potential.
