Nishioka Edges Out Marterer in Three Sets
Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan has progressed to the second round of the Hangzhou 2024 Table Tennis Championships after defeating Germany's Patrick Franziska in a thrilling four-set match.
Nishioka, who is currently ranked 12th in the world, won the match 4-3 (11-5, 11-9, 8-11, 10-12, 11-8, 2-11, 12-10) and will now face either Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro or Russia’s Anton Koldayev in the next round.
